Introduction
Welcome! We are so glad you are here.
This Lent, we invite you to use our 2025 Sumud Lenten Series resources for guided Bible studies. This series centers on Isaiah 58:6, “Is not this the fast I choose?”, with accompanying texts that follow Christ’s journey to the cross and resurrection.
There are six weeks in this series, and each week has a link to a Lenten video from the Holy Land featuring voices from the ELCJHL, a devotion written by a Palestinian theologian, a prayer to read aloud, and discussion questions to ponder with your group. Week 6 was written by a theologian from the ELCA. We will also be releasing videos from each of our theologians on our social media pages, and we invite you to watch them as they come out each week.
We invite you and your group to watch the corresponding Lenten videos each week, and reflect on your thoughts and feelings.
We invite one or more members of your group to read the written devotion for that week aloud.
We invite you to respond to the questions posed by that week’s theologian to reflect together.
Finally, we invite you to pray, using the prayer written as part of the devotion.
Inshallah (Arabic, “God willing”) you will find meaning and depth with your community through this series.
