Prayers for the Week

Ministry Sites in the Synod

  • For Hardies Creek Lutheran Church

We pray for Hardies Creek Lutheran Church in Ettrick and for Pastor John Ashland. Grant them a renewed sense of purpose and a spirit of fellowship as they serve their rural neighbors. May their ministry continue to be a beacon of faith and a steady anchor for the Ettrick community. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

  • For Mount Calvary Lutheran Church

We pray for Mount Calvary Lutheran in Trempealeau as they prepare to say goodbye to Pastor Paul Drees. Grant them peace in this time of transition and hearts full of gratitude for the years of ministry shared together. May they look toward the future with hope, trusting in your guidance for the road ahead. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

  • For Journey Lutheran Church

We pray for Journey Lutheran in Onalaska during this time of sabbatical rest for their pastor. Grant the congregation patience, creativity, and a deepened reliance on one another as they navigate this season. May this be a time of spiritual growth and refreshment for both the leadership and the people. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

Prayer Requests from the Synod

  • For Our Neighbors in Westby and Chaseburg

Lord, we lift up our neighbors in Westby and Chaseburg as they pause their recovery efforts to gather for this weekend’s festivities. In the midst of the music and the heritage of Syttende Mai, we remember that many are still navigating the aftermath of broken windows, scarred roofs, and the long road to restoration.

Be present in this necessary Sabbath—let the joy of the festival provide a true rest for the weary and a renewal of spirit for the discouraged. We pray that the strength found in community this weekend would fuel the continued work of the contractors, the neighbors, and the families as they return to rebuilding on Monday. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

Emerging Leaders

  • For Pastor Phil Waselik on Sabbatical

We pray for Pastor Phil Waselik during his sabbatical in Rome. Guide his studies, grant him clarity in his doctoral work, and wrap his time of rest and reflection in your grace. We look forward to his return and the fresh wisdom he will bring back to our shared life.

We also lift up the congregation of Trinity Lutheran in La Crosse. Bless the many lay leaders who are stepping forward to guide the church’s ministries with dedication and heart. May their work flourish and their community remain vibrant and connected during this season of transition. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

  • For Pastor Luci Sesvold on Sabbatical

We pray for Pastor Luci Sesvold and her family as she begins this season of sabbatical. Grant Luci a time of deep rest, spiritual renewal, and quiet restoration away from the demands of daily ministry. May her family also feel the blessing of this holy Sabbath, finding joy in their time together and a renewed sense of peace in your presence. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

  • For Leaders in Formation

We pray for Ron Amundson as he completes his second year of seminary and prepares for his internship. Grant him wisdom and energy for the transition ahead, and equip him to preach the Gospel with boldness and compassion.

Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

  • For Pastor Emily Ronsberg

God, we thank you for Pastor Emily Ronsberg, the newest pastor in the La Crosse Area Synod. Bless the work of Pastor Emily as a chaplain at Emplify Health. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

Local Ministry Partners

  • Interfaith Leaders Coalition

God of Unity, we thank you for the Interfaith Leaders Coalition of greater La Crosse. Keep their collaborative spirit vibrant as they build bridges of understanding and work for the common good of every neighbor. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

  • Lutheran Social Services

Merciful God, sustain the hands and hearts of the staff at Lutheran Social Services. As they provide housing, care, and hope, let their work be a living reminder that no one is forgotten in your kingdom. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

  • For Sugar Creek Bible Camp

Creator God, bless the sacred ground of Sugar Creek Bible Camp. As seasons change, prepare the hearts of all who visit to hear your voice in the rustle of the trees and the fellowship of the campfire. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

Wider Church Partners in Ministry

  • For our Synodical Partners:

We lift up our neighbors in the South Dakota Synod and the Minneapolis Area Synod. Grant the leadership and congregations in these regions a fresh sense of vision and the strength to meet the unique needs of their communities. May the Holy Spirit foster a spirit of partnership and peace across synod borders. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

  • For the Wisconsin Council of Churches

Spirit of Wisdom, embolden the Wisconsin Council of Churches. Use their collective voice to advocate for justice and to weave together a stronger, more compassionate fabric across our state. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.

  • For Our Companion Synods

Faithful God, we celebrate our kin in the Iglesia Luterana del Peru and the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (ECCB). Guide us in cultivating life-giving relationships rooted in your Love. Lord, in your mercy… receive our prayer.
