A Pastoral Message: We Will Not Grow Weary

January 2026

Bishop Felix Malpica is lending his full support to a recent pastoral message issued by Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry and six Minnesota Synod Bishops. Though authored by our neighbors to the west, Bishop Malpica believes their firm condemnation of recent immigration activity is a vital word of witness that must be heard throughout our synod. We are called to listen, reflect, and act.

The Rev. Yehiel Curry, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and ELCA synod bishops from Minnesota offer a joint pastoral video message addressing immigration activity. The bishops acknowledge the uncertainty being experienced by many in Minnesota and in other parts of God’s kingdom, and they remind this church that in our lament we still hold fast to the promises of Christ and the assurance that we are not alone.
