Congregation Council Development Retreat

Join others serving on congregation councils for a morning of learning and networking together. Discuss council best practices and engage in leadership development workshops. Learn about strategic communications, legacy planning, congregational systems, and resources and support available to you through the synod network. Network with other council presidents, VPs, treasurers, secretaries, and at-large members. Register by March 13th to secure your spot.

Location: Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 N Water St. Sparta, WI 54656

The cost is $5 per person. There will be some large group time at the beginning and end of the retreat with 2 workshop opportunities in the middle of the morning. One workshop will be council position specific (ie: Presidents/V.P, Secretary, Treasurer, At-Large Member). 

Optional Lunch: If your council would like to have some time to check in with one another and debrief/participate in extended conversation, they are welcome to sign up for lunch. The cost of lunch is $20 per person. This is an optional add-on from Noon to 1pm. We will be serving a hot taco bar (with meat and veggie options). There will be coffee and morning snacks provided for all.

  • 9:30 am The Big Picture – What is being on council all about?

  • 10:00 am Break

  • 10:10 am Workshop 1

  • 11:00 am Workshop 2

  • 11:45 am Closing remarks and blessing

  • Noon Optional lunch and time for networking - pre-registration required
