Prayers for Border Immersion Trip in January

Eternal God, we thank you for our beloved members of the La Crosse area synod who have been called to be part of our border immersion trip. They have been blessed with a willingness to serve and to grow in faith, love and understanding. Equip them for their week with patience, love and strength in the face of uncertainty, fear and challenge. Give them an openness to listen before speaking, to ask questions before assuming answers and to see all those they encounter as made in your image. We pray all this, as well for safe travel and good homecomings, through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

God, we pray for members of our synod’s border immersion trip. We pray for those at home who will miss them while they are gone. We pray for all the people they will encounter, for your presence to be felt through conversations and shared experiences. We pray for safe travel and meaningful homecoming. Open us all to the cries of your children and to the ways we are each called to seek justice and peace in all the earth. Amen.

Holy God, we pray for the members of our synod’s border immersion trip and for wherever we each are called to venture into the unfamiliar spaces and encounters. We pray: Lord God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.
